This videos taken a lot longer than it should have to pull together!
Anyway here’s a 30min video that goes through a range of hauls systems those working towards (or working as) Vertical Cave/ Mine Leaders may find usefully. Typically I teach just the first haul in this video on my training courses as it works 99% of the time, however there’s a few evolutions in this video (that NEED TO BE PRACTICED IN A SAFE ENVIRONMENT) that some may find useful, particularly those who may be a little smaller/ lighter!
This incudes some options with Traxions or other pulley/ jammer systems (for hauling only! see this article about the issues with belaying/ dynamically loading such systems), on which if you’re not aware already its really worth having a look at Pete Knights post relating to a near miss with a Traxion: https://www.peakinstruction.com/blog/potentially-dangerous-interaction-between-petzl-rig-micro-traxion/
If you’d like to skip to pertinent sections of the video here’s the key timings (although please watch the first 2mins on the safety considerations!!!)
