As well as a classroom (sort of!) session discussing cows tails, anchors in slate, metal mines and flooding/swimming underground we also had time to run a practical session on tyroleans as well as a trip underground to look at methods of possibly teaching SRT under the remit of the Level 2 award. Full day!!
Method often used in sea level traversing or taught through the MIA scheme on rigging a tyrolean. Works but does leave a knot in the rope to negotiate and doesn’t achieve a very tight rope (unless you get a lot of help setting it up)
Rope haul by hand
Tie-off with the knotted rope method of rigging an improvised tyrolean.
abseil
A method to belay with a STOP which makes switching to a haul easier but does result in less friction in the belay
