#SaveOutdoorEd

I don’t think I’ve ever really posted anything political here, but given we’re looking down the barrel with regards Outdoor Education I hope you’ll indulge me!

Here’s a few faceless photos from over the years of kids (and adults!) having genuine adventures in the great outdoors delivered by outdoor professionals, including cave and mine exploration.

COVID-19 has taken that often once in a lifetime opportunity from so many kids across the UK from having these often life affirming opportunities. UK Governments decision to not permit residential courses from continuing until at least Easter will take that opportunity from countless others. There’s a light at the end of the tunnel, but without a clear roadmap to get things going, without a realistic support, there won’t be Outdoor Centres or staff left to deliver these courses.

You can help, write to your MP, sign the petition (https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/552754?fbclid=IwAR3aQDJQRi3mdv9o7ISZHbJvkxL-FI5is_E0Oe5kDAE_4qAbBlZwfcyz1ks), post photos, tell people.

  1. 100% agree Its a crime that children are missing out!! Made the most incredible memories over the last 20 years at Oaklands . Kids never forget when they come back to school .I have kids telling me now they can’t wait to go !! Must have brought approx 1000 kids who have never forgotten the experience and neither have the adults who brought them!! Hope my grandchildren can go!!
